Use Photo Story 3 to create multimedia slideshows from digital photographs.

Photo Story 3 provides tools for adjusting images, adding effects and soundtracks, headings and captions. This software is an effective visual teaching tool for such activities as storyboarding and creating timelines; for example, charting the history of communication. The software can also be used for transactional writing; for example, demonstrating the step-by-step process of an activity. Sharing stories with this software is also easy, as small file sizes enable stories to be sent via email etc.

  • Photo Story 3 can be used as an alternative to PowerPoint and video software like iMovie for producing digital stories. The advantage is that students can use a digital camera instead of a digital video camera but it can still be saved as a movie file. The learning experiences below could be altered to accommodate the use of Photo Story 3.

Reviews

I have used photo story with my own tamariki at home to support their learning. I have also used it with tamariki in primary and intermedate schools to help them present work on Ngai Tahu History.

PhotoStory3 is a fantastic programme but I have just discovered that it will not work properly in Windows 7. It won't work as part of an upgrade, nor will it install into win7, not even with compatibility modes. (It may work within Virtual PC but that is not useful solution in a primary school)
I still introduce Photostory3 to teachers for use in their classes, but I now have to attach the caveat about Win7. It is a pity as this is such a good programme for children to produce digital stories.
