GarageBand is a personal recording studio – an easy-to-use music recording program suitable for all age groups and skill levels. Audio can be created and edited very simply by less-skilled or younger users, but the range of features makes it a comprehensive tool for advanced users too.
With GarageBand, students can create their own virtual on-stage band and play along on a favourite instrument. They can plug in a guitar, keyboard, or microphone, and record and mix their own music, or they can use some of the supplied loops and simply create their own sound tracks for their movies, animations, slideshows, or other media. Podcasts can be created simply, enhanced with background music, edited, and saved directly to a web page.
Students can view and print full musical notation of their compositions, add them as soundtracks to their digital projects, or export them to iTunes and create their own music CDs.
GarageBand '08 comes as a component of iLife '08.
